Health Management and Policy
Combined study in urban and regional planning and the department of health management and policy in the College of Public Health, offers a three-year program leading to an M.A. in urban and regional planning and an M.H.A. (master’s in health administration).
The M.H.A. program strengthens individual credentials as a health planner. It also expands job options to include administrative positions in health planning. Graduates of the joint degree program typically find employment in hospitals, state departments of health, and private, nonprofit, or public health agencies.
The health management and policy program requires 60 hours of graduate course credit for the M.H.A. degree. With the joint degree program, the combined requirement of 110 hours is reduced to a total of 80 hours. This includes 36 hours of M.H.A. core courses and at least nine hours of electives in health management and policy, plus 20 hours of core planning courses and at least 15 hours of planning electives.
