In 2013-2014, our Field Problems projects were done in partnership with the Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities and the cities of Cedar Rapids and Muscatine. In Cedar Rapids our projects focused on developing a business improvement district financing plan for the Czech Village-New Bohemia Main Street district, a set of recommendations for the city’s sustainability program (iGreenCR), and an analysis of factors that discourage young adults, including young professionals, from both living and working in Cedar Rapids. In Muscatine, our students prepared a bicycle and pedestrian plan for the city and also prepared a redevelopment plan for the City’s Riverside Park.
